PPT98: Embedded TrueType Fonts Do Not Appear When Converted (188901)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q188901 SYMPTOMS
If you save a PowerPoint for Windows presentation with the Embed TrueType
Fonts option turned on, those fonts don't appear when you open the
presentation in PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition, although their names do
appear in the Fonts list.
CAUSE
TrueType fonts for Windows are different from TrueType fonts for the
Macintosh. You cannot use the same font file on both platforms. Also,
PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition does not support TrueType font embedding.
The font names are retained, so if you edit a PowerPoint for Windows file
that contains embedded fonts in PowerPoint 98, and then reopen it in
PowerPoint for Windows, the new additions can have the same fonts as
the existing text.
