  • Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition

This article was previously published under Q188728

SYMPTOMS

When you save your presentation in PowerPoint 4.0 format, PowerPoint uses a three-digit format, similar to the following, to save the year incorrectly.

01/01/104

This behavior occurs when all of the following conditions are true:
  • The system date is set to the year 2000 or greater.
  • You inserted date fields in your presentation and choose to have them update automatically.
  • The dates are formatted in any two-digit format (such as, 01/01/04).

CAUSE

The PP Translator 8-4 file that PowerPoint 98 uses to translate files to PowerPoint 4.0 format is not year 2000 compliant.
