Error Replicating Registry Keys (188652)

SYMPTOMS

If the length of the registry keys to replicate in Generic Application (or Service) is more than 128 characters, the cluster Administrator displays an error message when the resource is displayed:

Cluster Administrator Standard Extension

An error occurred reading the registry keys for the resource: !!!!

The error message following the colon is unreadable.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Manual Installation Instructions

Copy the hotfix files to your %Winnt%\Cluster folder and restart the Cluster service and Cluster administrator.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
