SYMPTOMS

When you use the "Wake the computer to run this task" option for a task in Task Scheduler, your computer may not resume from a suspended state to run the scheduled task at the specified time.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if your computer's Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) does not support Advanced Power Management (APM) version 1.2 or later.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade your computer's BIOS to a version that supports APM version 1.2 or later. For information about how to do so, contact the manufacturer of your motherboard or computer, or view the documentation included with your motherboard or computer.

MORE INFORMATION

This feature is supported on computers that support the APM 1.2 or later power management specification. The "Wake the computer to run this task" check box is available on any computer, even though this functionality works only on computers that support APM 1.2 or later.
