SUMMARY

This article describes how to set object defaults in Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition. You can set the default for a picture, an AutoShape, or a Text object.

MORE INFORMATION

To change the default settings for an AutoShape, follow these steps:
  1. Select an object.
  2. On the Format menu, click AutoShape. (To change the default settings for a Text object, click Text Box.)

NOTE: In some cases you may see a WordArt object or a picture rather than an AutoShape.
  3. Click the Color And Lines tab and make the changes you want.
  4. Click Default For New Objects and then click OK.
New objects will now follow the new style.

NOTE: This procedure changes the default styles for the active presentation only. To change the default styles for all new presentations, make the changes in Blank Presentation.pot. This file is located in the Templates folder.

If you have text in an object, you can save the text style as a default. Select the text, click Font on the Format menu, and then select the Default for new objects check box.

For more information about changing the default formatting, click the Office Assistant, click the Index tab, type templates, click Search, click Display, and then click to view the "Change the default format of the blank presentation" topic.

For information about saving an object style as the default, click the Office Assistant, click the Index tab, type objects, styles, click Search, click Display, and then click to view the "Save an object style as the default" topic.
