PPT98: Text Cropped in Generic (Online) Presentation Template (188606)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q188606 SYMPTOMS
The ascenders and descenders of characters typed in the Title
Placeholder of the Generic Online Presentation Template (Generic
(Online).pot) appear cropped when the Title object is selected. In
addition, if you select all the text in the Title object and replace
it with a smaller amount of text, you may see remnants of the previous
text.
NOTE: The text appears correctly when you print the slide or run the
Slide Show. It also appears correctly when the Title object is not
selected. You can clear unwanted screen artifacts by switching to
another slide or view and then switching back again.
CAUSE
The line spacing for the Title Placeholder is set to 0.7. When lines
of text are this close together, ascenders and descenders appear to be
truncated.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, change the line spacing in the Title object.
To do this, follow these steps:
- On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
- Click in the Title placeholder.
- On the Format menu, click Line Spacing.
- Increase the Line Spacing to at least 0.8 lines. Click OK.
