PPT98: Action Settings Don't Work w/ Vertical, Horizontal Lines (188476)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition

This article was previously published under Q188476

SYMPTOMS

If you apply a Mouse Click or Mouse Over action setting to a vertical or horizontal line, the action does not occur when you click or move the mouse over the line during a slide show. In contrast, if you apply either the Mouse Click or Mouse Over action setting to a diagonal line, the action occurs as expected.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, cut the line and paste it as a picture.
  1. Select the line, and then click Cut on the Edit menu.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
  3. In the Paste Special dialog box, click Picture or Picture (Enhanced Metafile), and then click OK.
  4. Move the picture to its correct position.
  5. On the Slide Show menu, click Action Settings.
  6. Click either the Mouse Click tab or the Mouse Over tab, select the options you want to use, and then click OK.
