Computer Stops Responding with ATI AGP Rage Pro Display Adapter (188163)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start your computer, your computer may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This issue can occur if an ATI AGP Rage Pro display adapter is installed in your computer.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, disable your display adapter's hardware acceleration. To do so, use the following steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
  2. On the Settings tab, click Advanced, drag the slider to the None setting, click OK, and then restart your computer if you are prompted.
To resolve this issue, contact ATI to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue, or a Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) update to resolve this issue.
