SYMPTOMS

Display devices contained on some bridged display devices, such as the STB MVP/3D 4-port card, may not be used by Windows. The onboard display adapter may be used instead.

CAUSE

In some IBM Aptiva Stealth models, the BIOS improperly configures PCI bridges. In addition, the system design does not allow the onboard (on the motherboard) display adapter to be disabled. This results in a resource conflict. The virtual display device (VDD) does not allow secondary display adapters to be started if a resource conflict is detected.

RESOLUTION

Contact IBM Technical Support for a BIOS update for your specific Aptiva Stealth model.
