When you install Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition (Me), you may receive the following error message
when Windows 98 or Windows Me starts for the first time:
Invalid VxD dynamic link call from VXD(03) + <address> to device "0026,"
service 9. Your Windows configuration is invalid.
Run the Windows Setup program again to correct this problem.
To continue running Windows press Y or ENTER. To quit the current
program press N. If you continue running Windows, your system may become
unstable. Do you want to continue?
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you are using a NEC Versa laptop computer with
the NEC VersaGlide touchpad drivers installed. The VersaGlide drivers that
are included with some NEC Versa laptop computers make an invalid call to
the Vpowerd.vxd file during Setup.
RESOLUTION
To continue running Windows 98 or Windows Me Setup, press ENTER.
