When you try to shut down your Windows 98-based or Windows Millennium-based computer, your computer may stop responding (hang), and you may receive a general-protection (GP) fault error message in module Cwbmidi.vxd. This behavior may also occur if you try to disable your Crystal Audio sound card in Device Manager.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if you are using a Crystal Audio sound card. This
sound card may be incorrectly detected during Windows Setup, so the
sound card may not have the correct drivers installed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, obtain and install the most current version of
the appropriate sound card drivers. For information about how to do so,
see the documentation included with your sound card or computer.
