Cannot Change Real Name Information (187707)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to change the information in the Real Name box, the area is unavailable.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are logged on to a chat server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, log off of the chat server and then change the information in the Real Name box. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. In Microsoft Chat, click Disconnect on the Room menu.
  2. Click Options on the View menu.
  3. On the Personal Info tab, type the information that you want in the Real Name box, and then click OK.

STATUS

This behavior is by design. The information in the Real Name box is used to create a unique identifier on the IRC or Chat server.
