XL98: Unexpected Quit After Changing Tab Order of Option Buttons (187592)

SYMPTOMS

When you display a dialog sheet in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, you may receive one of the following symptoms.

The following error message is displayed:

The Application "Microsoft Excel" has unexpectedly quit because an error of type 2 has occurred.

You should save your work in other open applications and restart the computer.

-or-

The following error message is displayed:

The Application "Microsoft Excel" has unexpectedly quit because an error of type 1 has occurred.

You should save your work in other open applications and restart the computer.

-or-

Microsoft Excel quits without error.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when both of the following conditions are true:
  • You change the tab order of an option button on a Microsoft Excel 5.0 style dialog sheet.

    -and-
  • You display the dialog in a macro or by clicking Run Dialog on the Forms toolbar.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:
  • After you change the tab order for the option buttons, save, close, and then reopen the workbook before you display the dialog sheet.

    -or-
  • After you change the tab order for the option buttons, add an additional option button to the dialog sheet before you display it.

    NOTE: After the dialog sheet is displayed, you can delete the additional option button.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
