SYMPTOMS

If you remove the SideWinder Game Device 2.0 software from a computer running Windows 98, the game port on the computer may not function properly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you install the SideWinder Game Device software on a computer running Microsoft Windows 95, upgrade to Windows 98, and then remove the SideWinder Game Device software.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download and install the latest version of the SideWinder Game Device software from the following Microsoft Web site:

MORE INFORMATION

The program files for the SideWinder Game Device software have the same file names as the standard game port driver files in Windows 98. When you remove the SideWinder Game Device software, you also remove the Windows 98 game port drivers.
