Cannot Connect Using RAS After You Install Windows CE Services (186866)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows CE Services on a desktop computer that is running Windows NT, you may be unable to connect a Handheld PC (H/PC) or Palm-size PC (P/PC) with a desktop computer using Remote Access Service (RAS).

RESOLUTION

After you install Windows CE Services on a desktop computer that is running Windows NT 4.0, you must install the latest Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack.

If the issue continues to occur after you install the latest Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
  1. On the desktop computer, click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Network.
  3. On the Services tab, double-click Remote Access Service, and then click Network.
  4. Click the TCP/IP check box to clear it, and then click the TCP/IP check box to select it.
  5. Click OK, and then click Continue.
  6. Click Close. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
  7. Reinstall the latest Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack.
