The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
- Microsoft Bookshelf 98 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q186826 SYMPTOMS
After you install Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition and Microsoft
Bookshelf 98 for Macintosh, the Define command and the Lookup Reference
command are not available.
NOTE: The Define command is on the Tools menu. The Lookup Reference command
is on the shortcut menu when you hold down CONTROL and click a word.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if Bookshelf Integration has not been installed.
RESOLUTION
Install Bookshelf Integration from your Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh
Edition CD-ROM or your Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition CD-ROM.
To install Bookshelf Integration, follow these steps:
- Quit Microsoft Word, Microsoft Bookshelf, and any other Microsoft Office
programs you may be running.
- Insert the Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition CD-ROM (or Microsoft
Word 98 Macintosh Edition CD-ROM) into your CD-ROM drive.
- In the Microsoft Office 98 (Microsoft Word 98) window, double-click the
Value Pack folder.
NOTE: If the Microsoft Office 98 (Microsoft Word 98) window is not
showing, double-click the Microsoft Office 98 CD-ROM icon on your
Macintosh desktop.
- In the Value Pack window, double-click the Value Pack Installer icon.
- In the Value Pack Installer, click to select the Bookshelf Integration
check box, and then click Install.
- After the Bookshelf Integration files are completely installed, restart
your Macintosh.
Now when you start Word, Look Up Reference should appear on the Tools menu,
and Define should appear on the shortcut menu when you hold the CONTROL key
and click a word.
