SYMPTOMS

In the Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may experience the following problems:
  • Printing failures

  • Errors stating that your AppleTalk network is no longer available

  • Chooser showing no zones or devices
NOTE: You may also notice these problems in programs other than those listed at the beginning of this article.

CAUSE

You may experience these problems if both of the following are true:
  • You are using an Apple Macintosh G3 computer.

    -and-

  • You are using version 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, or 2.0.3 of the Ethernet (Built-In) extension.

RESOLUTION

To resolve some network related issues, update the Ethernet (Built-In) extension to version 2.0.4.

To determine which version of the Ethernet (Built-In) extension you have installed on your computer, follow these steps:
  1. Open the System Folder on your hard disk.
  2. Open the Extensions folder.
  3. Click once on Ethernet (Built-In) to select the file.
  4. On the File menu, click Get Info.
The Info dialog box will list the version of this file.
