Two Instances of Program Start When ClickSaver Is Enabled (184792)

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click an icon on the Windows desktop, you may start two instances of the associated program.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you enable the ClickSaver feature of the Microsoft IntelliPoint software and turn on the "Single-click to open an item (point to select)" option of the Microsoft Internet Explorer Active Desktop.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, disable the ClickSaver Feature of the IntelliPoint software, or turn off the "Single-click to open an item (point to select)" option of the Internet Explorer Active Desktop.

To disable the ClickSaver feature of the IntelliPoint software, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. On the StepSavers tab, click the ClickSaver check box to clear it, and then click OK.
To turn off the "Single-click to open an item (point to select)" option of the Internet Explorer Active Desktop, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, point to Active Desktop, and then click Customize My Desktop.
  2. Click Folder Options, and then click Yes.
  3. On the General tab, click "Custom, based on settings you choose," and then click Settings.
  4. Under Click Items As Follows, click the "Double-click to open an item (single-click to select)" option.
  5. Click OK until you return to Windows.
