SYMPTOMS

When you run Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition for the first time after installing it, the mouse freezes and your system stops responding (hangs).

CAUSE

RESOLUTION

To workaround this problem update the system software to 7.5.3 or later. To upgrade your System 7.5 software, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the Microsoft Office 98 compact disk into your CD-ROM drive.
  2. Open the Value Pack:Mac OS System Updates:System 7.5 Update 2.0 folder.
  3. Double-click Installer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
