SYMPTOMS

When you use World Clock to change the home city on a Handheld PC (H/PC) or Palm-size PC (P/PC), Pocket Calendar may not properly update single occurrence appointments.

Pocket Calendar does properly update the recurring appointment times.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if Pocket Calendar is running when you use World Clock to change from a home city that is on daylight saving time to a home city that is not on daylight saving time, or to change from a home city that is not on daylight saving time to a home city that is on daylight saving time.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:

  • Quit Pocket Calendar before you use World Clock to change the home city.
  • Use World Clock to change the home city, quit Pocket Calendar, and then start Pocket Calendar.
  • Use World Clock to change the home city, reset the H/PC or P/PC, and then start Pocket Calendar. For information about how to reset the H/PC or P/PC, see your hardware documentation.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows CE, versions 2.0 and 2.1.

MORE INFORMATION

When you start Pocket Calendar, it stores information about the current home city in a cache. When you use World Clock to change the home city, Pocket Calendar adjusts single occurrence appointments for daylight saving time according to the information in the cache. Pocket Calendar only updates the cache when you start the program.

If you change from a home city that is on daylight saving time to a home city that is not on daylight saving time, Pocket Calendar adjusts appointment times for the new time zone, but does not disable daylight saving time for single occurrence appointments. If you change from a home city that is not on daylight saving time to a home city that is on daylight saving time, Pocket Calendar adjusts appointment times for the new time zone, but does not enable daylight saving time for single occurrence appointments. When you restart Pocket Calendar or reset the H/PC or P/PC, Pocket Calendar updates the home city cache and displays the appointments at their proper times.

This issue does not occur with recurring appointments because they are dynamically adjusted by Pocket Calendar for daylight saving time.
