WinCE: Handwritten Notes Are Empty When Opened in Note Taker (184152)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a handwritten note in Note Taker, the file may be empty.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you saved the file as a text (.txt) file or in rich text (.rtf) format.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, use one of following methods:

Method 1

When you save a handwritten note, tap the Save command on the File menu. This saves the file in Note Taker note (.pwi) format.

Method 2

If you want to change the file name or the storage location of the file, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, tap Save As.
  2. Enter a file name using the on-screen keyboard or the handwriting recognition feature.
  3. Tap Options.
  4. In the Location box, tap the location where you want to store the file.
  5. In the Type box, tap Note Taker Note (*.pwi).

When you save a handwritten note in an inappropriate format in Note Taker, you receive a dialog box containing the following message
This note contains formatting that cannot be saved in <format>. Do you want to save changes?
where <format> is either Rich Text Format or text format.
