OFF97: MSGraph97: Custom Chart Set as Default Doesn't Retain Font, Scale (183914)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Graph 97
  • Microsoft Office 97 for Windows
  • Microsoft Graph 98 Macintosh Edition

This article was previously published under Q183914

SYMPTOMS

If you create a user-defined chart in Microsoft Graph and set that chart as the default, the font size and scale for the new default chart are incorrect.

This problem is specific to setting custom charts as default. This problem does not occur when you use the pre-desinged charts in Microsoft Graph.

CAUSE

Graph does not correctly save the font size and chart scale for user-defined chart settings, when that chart is set as the default.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can reapply a user-defined chart to an existing chart. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Insert a new chart in your slide.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Chart.
  3. On the Chart menu, click Chart Type.
  4. In the Chart Type dialog box, click the Custom Types tab.
  5. Click User-Defined. You see a list of all custom user-defined charts.
  6. Click the style you want to use and click OK.
This reapplies the custom user-defined type and correctly applies all the formats to the chart.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
