This article was previously published under Q183668
NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Outlook 98 configured with the Corporate/Work Group installation and you have chosen HTML as the message format, some aspects of this message format will not be retained when viewed by the recipient. The MORE INFORMATION section outlines features that do not function under various transport options and makes comparisons with some other mail clients including other versions of Outlook.

CAUSE

This occurs as a result of an interaction between Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 and its Internet Mail Service.
