PRB: Size Information Specified in Active Desktop Item Ignored (183649)

SYMPTOMS

Active Desktop items that are installed on your desktop may update themselves frequently. If you change the size information in the .CDF file for this item, this information is not reflected in the desktop item when it is updated.

CAUSE

When Internet Explorer 4.0x updates a desktop item, it refreshes each item specified in the .CDF file. Additionally, Internet Explorer also refreshes the .CDF file itself, but it ignores the size attributes of the desktop item, even if they have changed. This is by design.

RESOLUTION

To change the size of a desktop item, users have to delete it from their desktops, then re-subscribe to the newer version of the Active Desktop item.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
