To create a report that shows the amount of equity you have in an existing asset, use the Net Worth report, which can be found under "What I Have" in the "Report and Chart Gallery." The following example demonstrates how to create an equity report for a home loan. Use the appropriate method for your version of Microsoft Money.

Microsoft Money 2000 and Later

  1. Start Money.
  2. On the Money navigation bar, click Reports, and then click Reports Gallery.
  3. In the left pane, click What I Have.
  4. Double-click Net Worth.
  5. If a report is displayed on the screen, click Customize in the lower-left corner of the screen.

    If a bar chart, line chart, or pie chart is displayed on the screen, click the Report icon in the lower-left corner of the Money 2000 or 2001 screen, (for 2002 and later, you must click Customize, click the Chart tab, and then click Report), and then click Customize in the left pane of the screen.
  6. In the Customize Report dialog box, click the Account tab, and then click Clear All.
  7. In the list of asset accounts, select the Home Loan account as well as any other loan account that is associated with your home loan.
  8. Click the Rows & Columns tab, and then clear any percentage values in the Combine all values under n % of total box where n is an entered percentage value.
  9. Clear the Sort by amount check box.
  10. Under Level of detail, click Accounts.
  11. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  12. To save this report for later, add it to your list of favorites. To do this:
    1. On theFavorites menu, click Add to Favorites.
    2. In the Report name box, type the following line:

      Home Loan Equity Report

    3. Click OK.

Microsoft Money 99

  1. Start Money 99.
  2. On the navigation bar, click Reports.
  3. In the left pane, click What I Have.
  4. Double-click Net Worth.
  5. If a report is displayed on the screen, click Customize in the lower-left corner of the screen.

    If a bar chart, line chart, or pie chart is displayed on the screen, click the Report icon in the lower-left corner of the Money 99 screen, and then click Customize in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  6. Click the Rows & Columns tab, and then clear any percentage values in the Combine all values under n % of total box where n is an entered percentage value.
  7. Clear the Sort by amount check box.
  8. Under Levelof detail, click Accounts.
  9. Click the Account tab, and then click Clear All.
  10. In the list of asset accounts, select any loan account that is associated with your home loan.
  11. Click OK.

Steps for Money 98

  1. Start Money 98.
  2. On the navigation bar, click Reports.
  3. In the left pane, click What I Have.
  4. Double-click Net Worth.
  5. If a report is displayed on the screen, click Customize in the lower-left corner of the screen.

    If a bar chart, line chart, or pie chart is displayed on the screen, click the Report icon in the lower-left corner of the Money 98 screen, and then click Customize in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  6. Under Include, select any asset account that is associated with your home loan.
  7. Under Include, select No Accounts from the Investment Accounts list.
  8. Clear any values in the Combine all values under n % of total box where n is an entered percentage value.
  9. Click to clear the Sort By Amount check box.
  10. Under Level of Detail, click Accounts.
  11. Click Apply, and then click View to see your report.
