PUB98: Wrap Flow May Fail when Text is Covered by Picture Frame (183287)

SYMPTOMS

If you have a picture frame or a series of picture frames covering a text frame, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

The text in text frame may not properly wrap around the picture.

-or-
The text may remain hidden behind the picture.

-or-
You may see part of a line of text between multiple picture frames.

These symptoms may appear even if you set the picture frame properties to force text to wrap around it.

CAUSE

Publisher is unable to wrap text if the text frame is completely covered by a picture frame. Under certain circumstances, if one or more picture frames cover the text frame so that little or no text from the text frame is visible, Publisher will be unable to wrap text around the picture frame as well.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you can use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Resize or Move Pictures

Resize or move your pictures until the text wraps properly around the picture frame. To make it easier to see how the text is affected by your changes, you can hide pictures in your publication by following these steps:

On the View menu, click Picture Display.
Click Hide Pictures, and then click OK.
Resize, or move your images until the text is no longer hidden behind the picture frame.

Method 2: Change the Type of Wrapping Format (vector-based images only)

If the picture frame contains a vector-based image, like a Windows Metafile (WMF) image, you can change the type of wrapping format the picture frame is using. To do this, follow these steps:

Select the Picture frame.
On the Format menu, click Picture Frame Properties.
In the Wrap Text Around section, click Picture Only.
Click OK.

Publisher will now set an irregular wrap boundary around your image.
