SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Windows 98 from Windows 3.x or Windows for Workgroups 3.x, Dial-Up Networking does not contain any of the previous connection information.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because Windows 3.x and Windows for Workgroups 3.x Dial-Up Networking connections can not be automatically migrated to Windows 98.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, manually recreate your Dial-Up Networking connections. To do so, use the following steps:
  1. Double-click My Computer, and then Double-click Dial-Up Networking.
  2. Double-click Make New Connection, and then follow the instructions on the screen to create a new connection.
  3. Repeat steps 1-2 until you recreate the connections you want, close Dial-Up Networking, and then close My Computer.
