WD98: Cannot Paste Symbols into Replace With Box (182926)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q182926 SYMPTOMS
You will be unable to paste a copy of an inserted symbol in the Replace
With area of the Find and Replace dialog box. Note, however, that the same
symbol can be pasted in the Find What area and will display an entry such
as ^u61069; Word will then find the symbol.
The shortcut keys for the Copy and Paste commands are (COMMAND+C) and
(COMMAND+V), respectively.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a limitation of the Replace With area of the
Find and Replace dialog box.
WORKAROUND
After copying the desired symbol to the Clipboard, type ^c in the Replace
With area of the Find And Replace dialog box. This character will cause the
contents of the Clipboard (the symbol) to be inserted when the replace is
performed.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
