PPT98: Cannot Programmatically Set Caption of Program Window (182847)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q182847 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to set the caption property programmatically, you may notice
that Microsoft PowerPoint 98 does not retain your changes. The caption property
acts as though it is a read-only property. The code that attempts to modify the
caption of the application does not generate a run-time error. The instruction
runs and acts like it has succeeded. However, the caption text, "Microsoft
PowerPoint," is always returned as the caption.
NOTE: Code that modifies the caption text in PowerPoint 97 does work.
CAUSE
The Macintosh operating system does not provide a place to display caption text.
Because there is no place to display this text, PowerPoint does not allow you to
set the caption property.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not change the caption if you are using the
Macintosh platform.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at
the beginning of this article.
