SYMPTOMS

The Macintosh Operating System Help window always appears in front of other open windows. For example, if you are running a slide show in Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition, the Macintosh Operating System Help window will cover a portion of the show. On Macintosh computers running the Macintosh Operating System software versions 7.x or earlier, a black region covers part of the slide show window.

NOTE: Macintosh Operating System Help is sometimes referred to as Apple Guide.

CAUSE

The Macintosh Operating System Help window is designed to appear on top of other windows.

RESOLUTION

Exit Macintosh Operating System Help before you run a slide show. PowerPoint does not provide a way for you to turn off the Macintosh Operating System Help prior to running or during a slide show.
