The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q182404 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to use Microsoft Backup to back up files or folders
located on a network drive by double-clicking Networks and then double-
clicking the computer on which the files or folders are located, no
network shares may be displayed even though a plus sign (+) appears next
to the computer name indicating that a network share exists.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if no network shares exist on the computer.
RESOLUTION
To prevent this behavior from occurring, ensure that the files or folders
on the computer are shared.
MORE INFORMATION
When you view computers in a network using Microsoft Backup, Windows is
unable to determine if a network share exists on a computer. Instead, it
displays a plus sign (+) next to all computers in the network.
A plus sign (+) next to a computer, disk drive, or folder normally
indicates that a resource (network share, folder, file, etc.) is located
within it.
