Outlook Express and Outlook 97 Do Not Redial Automatically (181815)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to dial out in Outlook Express or Outlook 97, both programs may not redial automatically after receiving a busy signal.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use either of the following methods:

Method 1

After you receive a busy signal, try to dial again. Repeat this process until you successfully connect.

Method 2

Establish the connection, and then start the appropriate e-mail program. To do so, use the following steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, and then click Dial-Up Networking.
  2. Double-click the connection you use for Outlook 97 or Outlook Express, and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the connection.
