PUB98: "Cannot Launch or Communicate with OLE Server" Error Trying to Insert Drawing Object in Trial Version (181703)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create a new drawing in a Microsoft Publisher 98 file, you may receive the following error message:

Publisher cannot launch or communicate with the OLE server program needed to complete this task.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you have downloaded the Publisher 98 Trial version from the Microsoft Web site. The trial version does not contain Microsoft Draw. As a result, you are unable to insert any new draw objects into the publication.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install either Microsoft Draw 98 from the following Microsoft Web site:
