PRJ98: Resource Assigned Less Than Full Duration of Task (181119)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q181119 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you assign a resource to a Fixed Duration
task that has an existing resource assignment, the new assignment's
duration will only be as long as the longest assignment on that task.
NOTE: If no assignment already exists when you assign the resource, the resource is assigned for the entire duration of the task.
CAUSE
If the duration of an existing resource assignment is less than the
duration of a task, the duration of additional resource assignments will
equal the duration of the longest existing resource assignment on that
task, instead of the entire duration of the task.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, enter the value of Work for the assignment after assigning the resource.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
