XL98: Macro Error Message Appears Behind MS Excel 5.0 Dialog (180861)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q180861 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, if you click a button in a custom
dialog box, and a macro error occurs in the macro assigned to the button,
the error message dialog box may appear behind the custom dialog box.
As a result, you may not realize that you have received a macro error if
the dialog box is so large that it obscures the error message dialog box.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the custom dialog box is contained in an MS Excel
5.0 Dialog sheet.
NOTE: This problem does not occur in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows.
RESOLUTION
If you use a custom UserForm rather than an MS Excel 5.0 Dialog sheet, this
problem will not occur. When an error occurs, macro error messages always
appear in front of UserForms.
If you are unable to click the buttons in the error message dialog box, you
can use the following keystrokes to activate the buttons:
Keystroke Button
-------------------------------------------
c Continue (not always available)
e End
d Debug
h Help
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
