OL98: Removing Microsoft Exchange Deletes Some Outlook DLLs (180655)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Outlook 98 and then remove Microsoft Exchange Client with Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, some shared dlls are deleted that are needed by Outlook 98.

CAUSE

Microsoft Exchange Setup does not mark some dlls as shared; therefore they are not protected during the Remove process.

RESOLUTION

Remove Microsoft Exchange before you install Outlook, or reinstall Outlook after you remove Microsoft Exchange.
