XL98: Basic Files and Class Files Not Listed in Insert Dialog Box (180262)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q180262 SYMPTOMS
When you click File on the Insert menu in the Visual Basic Editor in
Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, the Insert File dialog box does not
list any files if you select Basic Files or Class Files in the List Files
Of Type list.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the file type of basic files and class files is
usually "TEXT." The Insert File dialog box does not list files whose types
are "TEXT" when you select Basic Files or Class Files in the List Files Of
Type list.
WORKAROUND
To display basic files and class files, select either Text Files or All
Files in the List Files Of Type list. You can then select the files you
want to insert, and click Open to insert them into the active module or
class module.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
Note that you cannot export modules or class modules from Microsoft Excel
98 Macintosh Edition. This feature is supported in Microsoft Excel 97 for
Windows and Microsoft Visual Basic for Windows.
