XL98: "String Not Present" Message When Using Internet Assistant (178962)

If you use the Internet Assistant Wizard to insert a Microsoft Excel table
in an existing Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) file, you may receive the
following error message:
The string "<!--##Table##-->" is not present in the file you selected.
You need to use your Web browser or a text editor to insert this string
into your HTML source file. This will specify exactly where the
converted data should be placed.
This behavior occurs even if the string in the message already exists in
the HTML document you specified.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Internet Assistant Wizard is case
sensitive. The error message in the "Symptoms" section appears if the
string in the HTML document is not capitalized exactly as the string
appears in the error message. For example, if the following string is in
the existing HTML document
<!--##TABLE##-->
you receive the error message.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, specify the string for the insertion point for the
Microsoft Excel data exactly as follows:
<!--##Table##-->
Note that only the letter "T" in the word "Table" is capitalized.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.

The Internet Assistant Wizard is not new to Microsoft Excel; however, it
has changed significantly since it was released as a free add-in available
on the Microsoft Web site in January 1996. You can now install the Internet
Assistant Wizard as component of Microsoft Office or Microsoft Excel. The
wizard has been enhanced to take advantage of the new Internet features
of Microsoft Office, Microsoft FrontPage, and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
With the Internet Assistant Wizard, you can leverage existing Microsoft
Excel spreadsheet data to create and distribute documents that can be
viewed online with a Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer. By
clicking a series of buttons in the wizard, you can convert spreadsheet
data to a separate Web document or you can insert the data into an existing
Web document.
