SUMMARY

This article explains how to change the <TITLE> tag of a Web page created with Microsoft Publisher 98. The <TITLE> tag is the text that appears in the Title Bar of your Browser. This can be done directly within Publisher without using a text editor to modify the HTML source code of the Web page.

MORE INFORMATION

To change the title of your Web page, follow these steps:
  1. Open the original publication (.pub) file from which the Web site was created.
  2. On the File menu, click "Create Web Site from Publication."
  3. If your publication has multiple pages, switch to the page you want to modify the title of.
  4. On the File menu, click Web Properties.
  5. In the Web Properties dialog box, click the Page tab.
  6. In the Title box, type a title for your Web page, and then click OK.

    This title is then added to the HTML code for the active page in Publisher. To title multiple pages, repeat steps 3-6.
  7. On the File menu, click Save as HTML.
When you browse a Web page with Microsoft Internet Explorer and most other browsers, any text that appears between the following two tags:
   <title>
   </title>

appears in the title bar of the browser. The title of a Web page can be edited in a text editor by viewing the HTML source code of the Web page. Microsoft Publisher does not provide technical support for editing HTML source code.
