PUB98: Recoloring Lost While Editing OLE Objects (178576)

If you recolor an OLE object in a Microsoft Publisher publication, and then
edit the object, the object reverts to its original colors while you are
editing it. When you finish editing the object and return to publisher, the
color changes you made to the object are restored.
CAUSE
Publisher recolors a picture or object by converting it to a grayscale
image and then mapping that grayscale image as shades of the new color you
choose. This technique does not modify the original color information in
the picture or OLE object; it just filters it while it is in Publisher.
As soon as you give another program (an OLE source application) control of
the object, the original color information returns until control of the
object is given back to Publisher.
