SYMPTOMS

When you click Multiplayer on the Microsoft Age of Empires startup screen, the Connection Type dialog box may be empty.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if DirectPlay is not completely installed.

RESOLUTION

Update Microsoft DirectX

To resolve this issue, download and install the latest version of DirectX. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
