XL98: Border Near Hidden Cells May Not Be Displayed or Printed (178453)

SYMPTOMS

When you print a Microsoft Excel worksheet that contains hidden cells and visible cells that have been formatted with a border, the border may not be printed. This may also happen when you view the worksheet in print preview.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • You select the cell, click Cells on the Format menu, click the Border tab, apply a border, and then click OK. -and-

  • The border is applied to the side of a cell that is next to a hidden column or row.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
