PRJ: Error Message Indicating Nonworking Time When Moving a Task (178310)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you move a task to a new date, you may see a message indicating the day is nonworking, even though the following condition(s) are true:

  • Case A: The day is a working day for an assigned resource's calendar.

    -or-

  • Case B: The task is assigned duration in Elapsed Time Units.

CAUSE

Case A

This problem occurs when a day in the project calendar is set as Nonworking (Saturday for example), and that same day in the resource calendar for the resource assigned to the task is set as Working.

Case B

This problem occurs when you move a task that is assigned Elapsed Duration to a day that is set as Nonworking in the project calendar.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, when the message appears, click to select the Don't tell me about this again check box, and then click OK. Then, move the task again as needed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
