WD98: Hidden Drop-Down List Box Always Reflects First Choice (176920)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q176920 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Commands tab of the Customize dialog box (on the Tools
menu, click Customize, and then click Commands) to add any of the following
commands to a custom toolbar or menu
Borders
Columns
Color
Condensed
Expanded
FileOpenFile
FontSize
Lowered
Raised
Shading
you have the option to select any of a number of items from a drop-down
list (this list is displayed at the bottom of the Customize dialog box when
you click one of the commands listed in this article).
When you view these entries in the Customize dialog box, if you select one
of these commands and you then select another one, the drop-down list is
not updated to reflect the new command. That is, if you select Borders
first, and you then select Color, the items in the list box for Color are
the same as those that are presented for Borders.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use any of the following methods.
Method 1: Close the Customize Dialog Box Between Selections
Select only one custom command at a time and close the Customize dialog box
between selections.
Method 2: Drag the Custom Command to a Toolbar or Menu
When you drag the custom command to a toolbar, the drop-down box
disappears. The drop-down box reappears with appropriate entries when you
click to select the next custom command.
STATUS
