PUB97: Companion Book Shows Clipart from CD-ROM Version (176385)

SUMMARY

On page 227 of the "Microsoft Publisher 97 Companion" book, there is a paragraph that states:

An asterisk (*) next to a picture's file name means that the picture is available only with the CD-ROM version of Publisher.

This paragraph is referring to the clipart images that are shown between pages 228 and 287 in the "Microsoft Publisher 97 Companion" book.

This is not meant to mislead you in any way. Microsoft ships the same companion book with both the 3.5-inch disk version and the CD-ROM version of Microsoft Publisher 97. The asterisk is used to indicate which clipart ships on disk and which clipart ships on CD-ROM.

There are 5,231 clipart files that ship on the Publisher 97 CD-ROM and they take up over 68 megabytes (MB) of space. These clipart files would take up almost 50 3.5 inch diskettes. That is in addition to the 10 diskettes that the rest of the Publisher 97 program ships on. That is why the additional clipart is only available on CD-ROM.

Both the diskette and the CD-ROM retail boxes state that additional clipart is available on our Design Gallery Live Web site. However, neither box states that the same clipart found on the CD-ROM is found on the Design Gallery Live Web site.
