SYMPTOMS

You receive the following error message if you attempt to run DreamWorks Interactive, Lost World: Jurassic Park Chaos Island on a computer that does not have a properly installed sound card:
ERROR: Could not initialize DirectSound. Ensure that you have a sound card installed properly and no other applications are using sound. Press OK to continue without sound or CANCEL to quit.
If you click OK, you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
NOTE: To avoid receiving the second error message, click CANCEL (instead of OK) when you receive the first error message.

CAUSE

Jurassic Park Chaos Island will not run on a computer that does not have a DirectX-compatible sound card properly installed and configured.

NOTE: Chaos Island will install on a computer that does not have a DirectX- compatible sound card properly installed, but it will not run.
