PRJ98: Error Sending TeamUpdate Message From Consolidated File (173175)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q173175 SYMPTOMS
If you attempt to send a TeamUpdate message from a consolidated file that
contains an inserted project from which you deleted a task, and you made no
changes to the consolidated file, you will receive the following error
message:
You cannot send task updates.
This project doesn't contain any tasks that need to be updated.
NOTE: To send a TeamUpdate message, point to Workgroup on the Tools menu, and then click TeamUpdate.
CAUSE
Any changes you make in an inserted project are made to the original file,
not the consolidated file, even though those changes are reflected in the
consolidated file. Because Microsoft Project does not detect any changes to
the consolidated file, you receive the error message described in the
"Symptoms" section when you attempt to use the TeamUpdate command.
WORKAROUND
To send the TeamUpdate message about changes in resource assignments, open or switch to the inserted project file you modified, and send the TeamUpdate message from there.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
