PRJ98: Links Change After Pasting Link Between Linked Tasks (172904)

SYMPTOMS

When you paste link a task between two tasks that are linked together, the original link will break and the inserted task will be linked to the original predecessor task.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you have selected the Autolink inserted or moved tasks check box on the Schedule tab in the Options dialog box. (On the Tools menu, click Options.)

RESOLUTION

Turn off the Autolink inserted or moved tasks option, following these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Schedule tab.
  3. Click to clear the Autolink inserted or moved tasks check box.
  4. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
