PRJ4: Can't Open MS Project 98 or Later MPX File with 9999+ Tasks (171054)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, version 4.0 or Microsoft Project for Windows 95, versions 4.1 and 4.1a, you may not be able to open a file that was saved in Microsoft Project 98 or later in the MPX 4.0 file format.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the MPX 4.0 file contains more than 9999 tasks. Microsoft Project 4.0 files can contain no more than 9999 tasks.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
