PRJ98: Can't Use VBA After Uninstalling Office 97 (170717)

SYMPTOMS

In you install Microsoft Project 98 on a computer on which you installed Microsoft Office 97, and you then uninstall Office 97, the Visual Basic for Applications component of Microsoft Project 98 will no longer work.

CAUSE

When you uninstall Office 97, all of the registry entries for the Visual Basic for Applications component are removed, even though the Visual Basic for Applications component files remain on your hard disk.

RESOLUTION

To restore the Visual Basic for Applications functionality, do either of the following:

  • Reinstall Microsoft Office 97. -or-

  • Reinstall Microsoft Project 98.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
